What the report tells you
Each of the five dimensions is rated Green, Yellow, Orange or Red, with an overall profile. The colour sets the recommended next step.
| Band | Meaning | Recommended next step |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Low stress | Preventive tips and self-care strategies. |
| Yellow | Mild stress | Guided self-help with an optional counsellor check-in. |
| Orange | Moderate stress | Matched with a psychologist for structured therapy. |
| Red | High stress | Psychiatric evaluation and a comprehensive treatment plan. |
Who it is for
It can be taken from anywhere with an internet connection and is deployed in enterprises in India and the USA.
- Adults who want a structured starting point before deciding whether to see a clinician
- Students (a student version covers academic and campus life)
- Employers and institutions screening a whole workforce or cohort, with aggregate reporting
- Clinicians, as a baseline to track change
What it is not
The Stressometer screens; it does not diagnose depression, anxiety or any other condition, and a Green result does not rule out illness. A Red result means a psychiatric evaluation is recommended; it does not mean a diagnosis has been made. The academic "Stressometer (SOM)" scale found in older research literature is a different instrument.
Validation and patent
The instrument was refined over 14 years of psychiatric practice, tested with the University of Houston, published in peer-reviewed journals including the Indian Journal of Psychiatry, and validated against the DASS, PSS and SOS scales (Cronbach's alpha 0.935). The Indian patent was granted in October 2025. The validation and patent pages give the details.
