At Dr Vohra's
Who to see first: a psychiatrist or a psychologist; the clinic coordinates both.

ICD-11: QD85 (burnout)
Stress, burnout or depression?
Stress lifts when the pressure lifts; a holiday helps. Burnout does not lift with a weekend off and is specific to work: exhaustion, cynicism, falling performance. Depression spreads beyond work into everything, with low mood, loss of pleasure, sleep and appetite change, and sometimes thoughts of self-harm. Burnout and depression overlap, and about half of people with severe burnout meet criteria for depression, which is why a clinical evaluation matters when symptoms have lasted more than a few weeks.
How does Dr Vohra's help with stress and burnout?
Screening: the Stressometer, the clinic's 55-question screening tool, maps stress across five areas of life in 10 to 15 minutes and recommends a level of care from self-help to psychiatric evaluation.
Therapy: REBT and CBT for the demands and thinking patterns that drive overwork and worry; mindfulness-based stress reduction for chronic tension; practical work on sleep, boundaries and recovery. Usually 6 to 12 sessions.
Psychiatric evaluation where depression, anxiety, insomnia or alcohol use has developed, with treatment as on those pages. For organisations, the clinic runs Stressometer-based screening programmes for employees and students.
What helps in the meantime
- Protect sleep first; nothing else works without it
- Short, real breaks during the day; a lunch away from the screen
- Exercise, even 20 minutes of walking
- Say what you can and cannot do at work, in writing
- Cut alcohol as a wind-down; it fragments sleep
- Talk to someone; isolation is both a symptom and a cause
Frequently asked questions
- Is burnout a medical diagnosis?
- ICD-11 lists burnout as an occupational phenomenon that affects health, not as a disease. What a clinic treats is the depression, anxiety or insomnia that often accompany it.
- Can my company arrange screening?
- Yes. Dr Vohra's deploys the Stressometer for employees and students with aggregate reporting and matched care paths. See the Stressometer for enterprises page.
